Hyperresearch Answers and API Search Engine
Hyperresearch Answers is our editorial choice for a search API: one call returns a short answer with quotes checked against their source pages.
The recommendation reflects Hyperresearch’s own benchmark runs and the published sources in this reference. Hyperresearch is our product. This is not a hands-on test of every tool.

What Hyperresearch Answers does
Hyperresearch Answers gives an AI agent two tools. ask sends one question and returns a short answer with the quotes it rests on, each matched word for word against the page it came from, or a plain “not found”. search returns ranked sources with the matching passages copied word for word, for agents that want to read sources themselves.
Both query the open web plus more than 90 structured sources, including SEC EDGAR, FRED, the Census Bureau, BLS, ClinicalTrials.gov, openFDA and USPTO. The research loop runs on Hyperresearch’s side, so the agent’s context stays small.
Why it is our editorial choice
On BrowseComp, Hyperresearch Answers scored 89% in its own published run, ahead of Parallel (Pro) at 73%, OpenAI web search at 58%, Perplexity Sonar Pro at 43% and Exa at 12%. It is the only API in this reference that returns quotes verified against their source pages by default.
Where it fits, and where it does not
- Agents that need a factual answer with evidence
- Questions that need filings, statistics or government records
- Keeping an agent’s context window small
- Raw Google results pages: SerpApi
- Crawling whole sites: Firecrawl
- An independent web index: Brave Search API
