Rate limit
A rate limit caps how many requests a key can send in a set period of time.
What it means
A rate limit is a cap on how many requests a key can send in a set period, such as per second, per minute or per day. Providers use limits to protect their systems and to shape what each plan can do. When a call goes over the limit, the API returns an error, and your code must wait, retry or queue the work.
Limits matter more for agents than for people. An agent may fire several searches in parallel while it researches one question, so a low queries-per-second cap can slow the whole run. Brave Search API lists 50 queries per second on its Search plan and 2 per second on its Answers plan. Parallel sets per-minute limits that rise by tier. Read the limit next to the price, then design your agent to queue and cache repeated searches.
